If you want to deal drugs, don't do it at the University of Maine because we'll send you to jail
Four University of Maine freshmen (quick learners, eh?) face felony drug trafficking charges following a marijuana investigation that started at the beginning of the semester, officials said.
The arrests followed the seizure of a pound of marijuana from a vehicle in which two of the suspects were riding, said university Police Chief Noel March, whose office teamed up with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency in the investigation.
"A pound of marijuana's a big transaction on our campus," March said Monday. "It's the largest I've seen on campus in one transaction."
So, which is worse? Finding out your 18-year old is a drug dealer or finding out your 18-year old is hopelessly narcissistic?
Today's college students are more narcissistic and self-centered than their predecessors, according to a comprehensive new study by five psychologists who worry that the trend could be harmful to personal relationships and American society.
"We need to stop endlessly repeating, 'You're special,' and having children repeat that back," said Jean Twenge , the study's lead author and a professor at San Diego State University. "Kids are self-centered enough already."

I just had quite a long conversation with someone about the "shallow narcissistic kids today" article.
We decided that most of their parents are too, and that the problem isn't anything a little discipline and having to do some chores once in a while whouldn't fix.
Did anyone see the Judy Woodruff documentary? She seemed to feel the kids are very empowered. She did not use narcissistic, but noticed the entitlement and no lack of self-confidence.
I did see the Woodruff documentary and you're right, now that I think of it. She did seem a bit put off by the kids' self-confidence.
Gnumoon, I think it's the topic of the week. My parents, Retired Guy and I had a long discussion about this, as they've noticed that their students are totally self-absorbed and believe that they are entitled to what they want....NOW!
I've noticed it in the employees I hire right out of school. The first thing they want to know is can they take vacation? How long is lunch? And they sure don't want to work to get ahead.
