The First Day of Spring

The View from My Window, York, ME March 21, 2007

I vowed that I'd never complain about the winters in Maine. After all, we moved here voluntarily. This winter has tried that vow almost to the breaking point. The first day of spring was spent huddled near the fireplace, looking at the snow out the window, wondering how the daffodils are managing.

Our snow is gone. I can see why you would complain about that much snow this time of year.

It just makes the coming spring all the sweeter- I can feel in my mind how great that first 50 degree day with no wind is going to feel. In some sheltered spots up here on the lee shore of Penobscot Bay the blossoms are already out....

Weasel, you are so right. Today's lovely weather is wonderfully sweet.
Jenn, you are so lucky to not have feet of snow to melt off. Do you have mud season where you are?
I believe ours is about to commence.
