Maine Blogger To Cover Scooter (Libby) Trial
Lance Dutson, a Maine blogger who runs the Mainewebreport will cover next week's federal trial of Scooter Libby, former Chief of Staff to Vice President Dick Cheney.
Dutson is a member of the Media Blogger Association, a group of about 1,000 bloggers that received the credentials to attend the trial. Dutson will share a seat with other members of the MBA during the trial.
If Dutson's name sounds familiar, it might be because he's the Maine blogger who was sued by a contractor for the state of Maine for criticizing an ad campaign. The suit was withdrawn after the contractor suffered a huge beat down by the blogosphere and even the maine stream media.

I have been made aware that Robert Cox of the Media Bloggers Association is planning to arrange a seat at the Libby trial for one of his bloggers - Lance Dutson of

I have been following Mr Dutson's blog for some time, and have come to learn that most of his accusations are brazenly untrue .... untruths about which he has repeatedly been made aware. He has even admitted to knowing that some are inaccurate, but these admissions eventually disappear... and off he goes again, on another rant.
Lance Dutson came out of the gate swinging, and has consistently and pugilistically ignored any invitation to reasonable discourse.
Robert Cox informs me that he has never even read Dutson's blog. I find this, if true, to be an act of extreme negligience.
If you do read Dutson's blog, you will see that the headlines are never corroborated by fact, but rather, link only to more of his own accusations, or even to documents which actually CONTRADICT these accusations.
Apparently, people only read the headlines, and nothing else. And they mindlessly believe them.
He appears to get the most gratification out of making searingly vicious personal attacks on total strangers whom he somehow perceives as enemies. And this list grows longer every day.
If anyone disagrees with him in a comment, he turns his hatred on that commenter, with vicious lies about him.
Or he deletes the comment entirely.
He behaves like a web troll, and nothing else but. I find it unfathomable that anyone would assign a seat at the Libby trial, and its resultant journalistic credibility, to someone without ever having checked his credentials.
Web trolls should be eliminated - not elevated.
Update........
Robert Cox has now removed Lance Dutson's name from his homepage. Only "Maine Coast Design" (Duston's client-less web developement company) remains, at the bottom.
In retrospect, it might be interesting to let this Libby Trial/Dutson thing transpire.
Once the mainstream media gets ahold of the truth, the resultant "Pool-pah" will help put Maine on the map.
(Fear not - Mainahs - Dutson is from West Virginia)
I'm not a fan (or detractor) of Lance Dutson. I've read a few of the articles about the lawsuit and it appears that he's over the top in most things that he writes. The purpose of this post was to simply note that in a state with relatively few bloggers, he somehow managed to get one of the credentials.
I can see you're not a troll.
It's too bad that many people want the truth out, but everyone is terrified to stand up for Dutson's victims. They're afraid that the same thing will happen to them.
I tried, and I now Google as a "Sociopath" although I am about as sociopathic as Mary Poppins. But at least I wasn't fired. It's all like a bad sci-fi movie.
This is an unacceptable situation, and not part of my 50's mentality, that a single overtly lying blogger could destroy so many innocent people.
But I did read that in Washington, it's the latest craze for power seeking writers to feather their own nests by attacking and bringing down innocent victims. It's a sign of the times, I guess. You just don't expect it here in Maine.
I suppose Dutson thought it might be easier here - where people are more trusting.
